reproduction quilt

Here in my hot little hands I have this lovely fabric by Wilmington Prints called "Basically Kaye Shirtings by kaye england I am lucky enough to be making the shop sample for The country Yard. While cutting this out last night I pictured me as Caroline Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie, getting ready to make a quilt to keep my kin folk warm...................you know as a child I always wanted to be Caroline when I grew up, I even named one of my Barbies after her! ( I wanted to be Magnum P.I at one point too!!!)

Anyway, I quickly remembered who I was when I was using a rotary cutter and ruler, and electric sewing machine...AND I actually had electricity! Back to the real world.

I will keep you posted.
Over and out from Caroline :-)

P.S this lovely fabric is available now from The Country Yard

SPOOLS

What an exciting moment opening my mail this morning, my spools from Joan !!!! they are just delicious.Rich Thimbleberry colours .I'm not sure how I will put them together as I only have 50, but maybe I will keep watch on Joan's end result. Any suggestions? Maybe alternate with 5" blocks?
Joan picks out her favorite ones, but I really love them all! But I thought this was a cool one with the deer, or reindeer?
Anyway thanks again Joan, please be sure to pop over to Joan and have a look at what she is up to.

Have a 'SPOOLICIOUS' day.

paper piecing

Under the Southern Stars is a quilt designed bySue Daley that The Country Yard is offering as BOM. I am lucky enough to be making the shop sample. Now I have been making this since October...but you have to remember it is paper piecing. It is a fantastic portable project, I take it to do in the car (not when I'm driving!) or when we are on holiday. The quilt has 36 stars that are appliqued onto a background circle, then this is appliqued onto a background fabric.
When I had only 4 stars left to make, I saw on Sue's blog a tutorial using Sewline glue pen, go here to see the tutorial...this sure speeds things up.Well I suppose it will speed up the next paper pieced quilt I do, but I have finish this one first!!!
So here are the finished pile of stars, the rest are on display at The Country Yard as the centre of the quilt.
My days are full with quilting for others, then come the evening guess what I do?........Paper piece...and some blogging!

Spools

Well I'm pretty excited to be doing a block swap with Joan. I thought it might be too late as I only found a link to her blog on Julie's blog...I'm sure some of you have the same dilemma you jump from blog to blog forgetting where you first started! Well maybe it is only me, I am a real beginner in this blog world.
Anyway we all say we really don't need to start any more projects...are they not the famous last words? Because while I was making the spool blocks for Joan, it got me thinking I could put feelers out on my blog for a Crumb swap. So any one out there keen?

Here are the spools I made for Joan.

crumbs together

Well here it is with the red plaid sashing.I really like the border fabric.I went with doing a crumb block in corners of the border.I have to once again thank Bonnie from www.quiltville.com
for her inspiration.I have also done a pieced backing using orphaned blocks, ninepatches and scraps.
I will take some photo's of front and back when I've quilted it. Best I get some customers quilts done now!

crumbs

Thankyou to Bonnie http://quiltville.com for the crumbs idea. Here are a couple of shots with different sashing choices, I thought about making them 1 1/2" between each block and around all the blocks then say a 3" border?
What do think?

UFO???

Check out this, I know it's not a quilt, but worthy of a photo.
