quilting a coffee runner...

Just in case you thought I wasn't working, I thought I'd better show you something I have quilted for The Country Yard, this fabric came into the shop the other day, we thought our customers might like to see it made up into something.Just very simple and quick....and if you are quick you can pick up a yummy kit for this project, just in case you have nothing else to work on!
Please click on the photo so you can really see the lovely colours.

I have quilted some other samples for the shop, but they are a secret for now...we have to have few surprises up our sleeves.

Crumbs!!

My Crumbs quilt finished!! Yippie...I love this scrappy story quilt.Story quilt you say? Well there are so many bits from so many different quilts that it kinda tells a story.
I finished the top back here and said I did a pieced backing made up of orphaned blocks, ninepatches and odd bits and pieces.
I wrote on the label (a left over Dresden Plate block) about the process, the fact that there are 225, 3 1/2" blocks.I also used one in each corner of the border.
Also on the label I wrote 'Can you see a car, guitar, scissor and more etc. etc...this should make it fun to look at.

Here is the back in all its glory!! I really do love this, I feel like I've truly recycled.

I think I'll have to send some pics to Bonnie Hunter...

thanks Bonnie for sharing this fabulous idea.

Zippy wee number

Here's a fresh modern look using a very simple design by Kerryn
This a quick quilt to make and the quilting was just as quick, I did a large meander on the large print and 1" straight line stitching on the pieced strips(similar to 'Chinese Coins' block).

I love the zing of red that pops up here and there.
Mmmmmm...what's this?? Can't tell.

block two

Here's my Frosty Flakes number two finished.I used little heart button this time.I'm sticking to the red fabric.
Happy stitching all.

Megs Quilt

Thankyou to Meg for giving me this beauty to work on.Aren't the colours lovely?
Check out the other photo's for close ups of the the bead work .

Please feel free to click on the photo so you can see the beads
Here we have part of the centre of the quilt that has a stitched stem and appliqued leaves, I love how some flowers are not dead centre, it gives overall interest.I have been trying to figure out what kind of flowers they are? Camellias?Or Roses?

baby quilt and customer quilt

Here is a wee quilt I have finished making for a gift for a baby due later in the year. I was keen on an I Spy quilt as they tend to be suited for either sex, when someone told me about this idea, I thought 'oh I like that'.
The thin strip of yellow in the border is a 'Peeper' (I think that is what they are called?) I think it helps give it a wee lift.
In the close up of the quilting you will see I quilted in words what is in each 'Jar' using the lovely Signature variegated thread. In this photo you can see a peek of the backing fabric which is flannel.

A dear lady I have done a few quilts for, recently gave me this lovely quilt to finish off for her.Margaret has hand stitched a wee vine and flower on some of the cream sashings. This quilt measures 76" x 76"...I always have problems photographing the bigger quilts..still I'm a quilter, not a photographer!
I did a feather on the inner border and leafy vine on outside border.
Here is a shot of the back.

new project........

Here is my first block of 'Frosty Flakes' BOM from Dawn .I used a red metallic red thread and star buttons and a beige/off white Aurifil thread for the backstitching and lazy daisies, there are some tiny seed beads in the centre of the lazy daisies...but probably too small to see.
These hexagons are small, sides measuring 1/2". A very creative friend of mine is making some neat things with hexagons you can pop over for a visit here. I used Sewline Glue pen instead of thread basting...much quicker and less fiddly...I got my pen from www.thecountryyard.co.nz

OK, Ok ....to all who know me......I think once or twice I've said I wasn't going to start ANYTHING new......BUT a gal has her weakness'!!!!!!
Have a great weekend.
