2 Breast Friends

My Breast of Friends quilt

Veron's Breast of Friends quilt

Amazing isn't that you can have the same pattern "Breast of Friends BOM" from the Australian Homespun magazine and get such a different look!
My quilt (top photo) has a polar fleece backing and is my husband's favourite quilt....

Here is a close up of the 2 borders...Veron was very keen to have some more Rayon threads used, as I did on the last quilt I did for Veron

Isn't this a fun block, makes you want to grab some friends and head off on an adventure...or to a quilt shop!!!

Oppps...this one is sideways???
There we all go!!.......I used a Signature variegated thread on the sashing on this block with the swirls, but I'm not sure about it? The dark section of the thread looks too dark to me.....I used a touch of Aurifil Metallic (Brillo) on some blocks, here it was on the sun's rays.........

Can you guess what designer designed this block???

I really did have fun with this quilt.....thank you Veron for trusting me with your beautiful creation.
I could have done so much more....but there has to be a point that you say stop....or your customers says so.......
he, he, he.

last, but not least, the back.

Friendship................

Wet dog from yesterday's post

Wet dogs friends!! (please click on photo)
Fun table runner!! I love the tongues wagging and the excited eyes.......The owner of this beauty wanted me to just quilt around each dog in the ditch and I did this in the border edge too, then quilt just a few bones.
I did the bones using Aurifil's 12 weight thread for this to give real definition and an almost cartoon look to the bones. I would have loved to have done so much more, but what is important here is that the owner gets what she asks for...but just picture some dust swirls coming up from the dogs feet! Oh what fun!

Here is what I am working on now, nice verse isn't it?

Classic cross hatching

Sometimes cross hatching is just spot on for a quilt, simple yet classy looking.

I used a teal coloured rayon thread & meandered on the border also in a rayon, but in brown.

clever design don't you think, different sized blocks, this would work for brights, pretties, bold & geometric.....

why is there a wet dog at my machine??

Wholecloth??

Well it could be if you wanted, but this is the back of this............................
cross hatching and Blah, Blah......

Exclamation marks and asterisk and a whole lot of Blah, Blah, Blah!! This is another quilt for The Country Yard. Fun quilt for someone don't you think?

"SEW" tidy...........

What a great idea for your sewing room...this range of fabric's by RJR Fabrics called "Mrs Sew & Sew" (cute name) and is available very soon at The Country Yard.
Kerryn designed and made this sample, she has made the panels of sewing machines into pockets.
I quilted this very, very simply, with ditch stitching, a bit of background stipple around the words at the top to make them pop out more and a fancy stitch on the tape measure border and sashing.

Something new and something new!!!

This is such a sweet simple design in fresh modern fabrics.
I did a flower and leaf all over design on the large runs of fabric and for the pieced sections (they look a bit like piano keys) I did straight line quilting using a teal rayon thread .

This is a new range of fabric available at my favourite quilt shop , which incidentally is under going a make over.
If you can make it along to the shop on the 17th February we are having a "Hat's n' Heels" themed party for our New Years launch, this is a good chance to see new samples, class lists, new fabrics, patterns etc and of course the new look shop!

Sew it's finished?

You will spot a new 'thingie-me-bob' button on the left of my blog.
Dawn invited me to join the challenge and I thought why not. I had already decided to get my tosh into gear and get some stuff finished!
So thanks Dawn and Wendy.
Pop over and see what some quilters are achieving.

Don't get the blues.............

Blue and White, a great choice for a quilt.
In my opinion will never out date.
On the setting triangles I did some double and single flowers, using Maderia Polyneon thread,  for a soft look...please click on photo for a closer look.

Here is a shot of the back of the quilt. I used this machine to quilt this quilt.

I have my 440 Bernina back now. Thank you my 830!!

run to the table!!!

My table runner finished!!
This pattern is a Sue Daley design that I got from the Australian Homespun magazine.
The flowers are English paper pieced, then I did very simple quilting, I love the reproduction look.
Some time back I did this quilt , also from Sue and English paper pieced...I love the peaceful process.

It is a nice feeling to be getting some of my projects that have been sitting around for a while, finished!

trusty friend....

Here is my trusty Bernina 830 at work. My Aurora 440 is in the shop having it's service (Boy it only seemed like a short time ago it was in for it's last one?)
The 830 was purchased last year off Trademe for $400 and this machine is like new, you open the top up and it is in pristine condition. I wouldn't normaly buy something like this off Trademe but it just felt right and I'm glad I went for it!!
Just finishing my Round Robin quilt so I will have a pile of my quilts to hand sew the bindings down in the evening while watching Dr Quinn Medicine Women.

customer quilt and sorting.....

Dianne has made this stunning table mat for her daughter.
Dianne did this as a class with Kerry Glen.

Dianne just wanted simple echo quilting, but it is very effective. here you will see the centre applique is is out lined with hot ribbon.

please click on the photo for a better view of the ribbon.

It was clean up and sort out day today @ Quiltme...do you like my storage for customers quilts, ends of batting etc?

My own quilting

I was worried that some folks might think all I do is freshen up my blog, so I thought I'd do a post on this quilt that I am currently quilting. This is a top I finished well over a year ago, I had it on display over Christmas and had the odd comment (mainly from my husband) that it was not quilted! Shock horror!
So I thought I would tidy up some loose ends of my own before I launch into customers quilt....which by the way I have some stunning quilts coming up...so as they say: watch this space!

P.S Happy New Year and thanks for taking the time to visit.
