Time for a spot of reading

I am lucky to be enjoying a spot of reading from time to time, a couple of pages here and there.
A generous friend has lent this latest Elm Creek book for me to read....and so far it is great, I feel like I am there in the 1800's

An Heirloom to share............

An Heirloom quilt needs special treatment...don't distract from the beauty of what the quiltmaker has made.
Feather wreath......

Susan did a fabulous job of this quilt. With her mother's 80th birthday looming, she wanted to make something special, I think she succeeded!
Using a 'Turning Twenty' pattern she made this quilt using the prettiest fabrics.

With my trusty feather wreath stencil on hand we went to work.

I love this soft green.....

I hope your Mum has many happy years enjoying this quilt.

No poly-neon Maderia, Mettler or Wonderfil threads were harmed in the making of this quilt :-)

Rest your head here......

Yippie all finished!!

Remember back here.........

Then life was crazy and just before Christmas (hang on a minute...life is STILL crazy!!) when were all busy getting ready for Christmas and all it brings.Still Kerryn , Cat and Kerry were all keen to join this mini Round Robin that Helen happliy designed to share with anyone who wanted to join in on the fun.

So I stitched the centre block, then Cat did her bit, then Kerryn's turn, last but not least Kerry finished the last row. Then I made it into a cushion.
Thanks Helen for reaching out with a fun idea...I would be keen to do this again...only not near Christmas!!!

a ray of sunshine!!

Think sun, summer, warm days and picnics!
Hasn't Jill done a fabulous job of her first quilt.
Jill had wanted a butterfly wreath on the pinky whole square blocks, she had a stencil and had marked the first one on the quilt, but didn't lend it to me and I didn't have one the same but I made a cardboard template of the butterfly and linked together....see photo of the back of the quilt to see what I'm on about.

A border of a cable and stipple, cross-hatching and another border of wriggles.

The back of the quilt....have fun with the binding Jill!

Logs and Cabins

Although Joicelin  had her fair share of teething problems with this quilt she persevered and came up with a beautiful quilt.

Here is another colour way of this same pattern

This is the back, loopy hearts and flowers.

Well done Joicelin.

Sweetpea..............

Background filler fun!!
Lots of my favourite threads used again....madeira, Mettler and Aurifil.

On the green border you will see a lovely thick thread...this is Aurifil's embroidery weight thread.

Please click on photo for a better view.

Oh this looks like a different quilt...the colour is different...oh well I'm a quilter not a photographer.

If you click on these photos you will see clearer. Here the border was happy to be the' border', so I used the pattern on the fabric for the quilting.

Amanda made this quilt for her wee girl that is fondly known as "Sweetpea".
This is Amanda's first quilt....well done I say!

Stars, stars & more stars!

Marcelle made this quilt using up her scraps.Very effective setting.

Please click on any of the photo's for a better look.

A wee close up of the 'wind & stars'............

Just because someone is expecting their own baby, doesn't mean you can't make one for your friend who is expecting too...that's just what Marcelle has done.

loopy stars in a variegated thread on a flannel quilt....oh to be a baby again!
