time for some bright & cheery!

Wendy made this quilt for her daughter Charlie, I think this will be fun in a teenage girls room, don't you think?
Wendy trusted me to go ahead & do what I thought best for the quilt.

Using a mix of Gunold & Madeira polyneon threads I hope I have created a funky, whimsical design.

Next Jill made a table runner for me to quilt, this one is pretty but bright & cheery too. Jill is new to quilting & is doing really well learning & picking up all the 'lingo'. As we know there is much to learn & there is always more to learn! Do we ever stop learning?

Hopefully if you click on the photo's you will see the lovely Mettler variegated poly thread used top & bottom. I quilted a looping feather vine ( inspired from a Carla Barrett online class ) & curling ribbon.
I hope everyone's week is going great!

1 Xmas item

Busy day for me tomorrow, so I thought I would post about my 1 Xmas item today. Actually I have two items............show off aye!
The stitcheries have been finished for a few months, just had to get my 'A' into gear & finish them.
Thanks so much to Narelle for hosting this motivational SAL, I find it is really helping me to make something each month. Well OK, so it is only the second month, things might have gone down hill in another month or two!!
"Enough blabbing Leeanne, show them what you did"!

Two Christmas Bon Bon's by Annie Downs from Hatch and Patched

Now for a little sneaky peaky of a customer's quilt I finished today, I need to phone the owner to say it is all done, but thought I'd give her a wee peek!!!!!!!

Not such a great photo, but there are better photo's, I will with the owners permission, post better photo's later in the week.

A farewell quilt

What do you do when a special friend is leaving town, moving to another island, you know you will miss her................................................????
You make a quilt! So that's what a group of friends did to farewell our friend. Knowing she loves Lynette Anderson's ' Hollyhock' range of fabric ( with a touch of wool felt ) we set to making a keepsake.
The centre block is our 'signature' block, I quilted all our names & the year & stating we would be friends forever.

Making quilts for family.....................

Aside from quilting samples for the shops New Years Launch , which I can't share with you for a few more weeks, I have made two quilts for family members. The first was for one of my sisters.

Now I'm not sure how the 'Quilt Police'  & her deputies feel about me gifting a quilt that I made a couple of years ago? But isn't it the thought that counts?
I was planning on making my sister a quilt, like I did for my other sister ( see here ).But when I found out it was a birthday that was ending with ' 0 ' I thought, perfect timing to give a quilt!!! Then this one came to mind, it hasn't been used, so I washed it, to freshen it up, put a label on it & a hanging sleeve.
The simple pattern was from a magazine ( sorry can't remember which one! ), I do remember the pattern called for fat 1/8's & simple stitcheries.

The next is made with the recipient in mind, one of my nieces.

This one is called ....'Jellycake' by Anne Sommerlad from a Australian Country Craft magazine, VOL 21 NO 9 Fabric is 'Petite Odile' from French General. The quilt uses a jelly roll & a layer cake.

More quilts and The Country Yard

Last year I finished a cute quilt for one of my customers, but I forgot to take a photo! A first for me. I told my customer Pam what I did, she said that she had taken some photo's.........great I said! Could you please email the photo's? Well Pam's reaction was quite funny! Basically that was something that didn't come on to her list of skills. Oh Pam said........" just take my camera home!!!" So that is what I did today.

Thanks Pam!

I like to call this one 'Autumn by the Sea' as the aqua's & burnt oranges & the fact that this quilt is for someone's holiday home at the beach ( AKA 'a bach ).
I used 'Glide' thread doing straight lines followed by an echo, creating squares.  I used a new batting to the shop called 'soft & Bright', a poly batting.

I have quilted quite a few other quilts, but I can't show you yet as they are being kept for The Country Yard's new years launch. This day is always buzzing with new idea's, kits, BOM's, mysteries, fabric's patterns & more! If you are in northland on the 16th of March come along for a fun morning, stop awhile to take all the goodies in with complementary morning tea, set on stunning country garden!

sharing another sampler with you.....................

Back again with another sampler quilt, this one is made by Barbara during a sampler class at The Country Yard . I used mainly Madeira poly neon threads & cotton/bamboo batting.
Warning............lots of photo's.

                                                                       68" x 68"

Not sure if it is my camera or the light, but the photo's don't give true colour & detail of the quilting...........maybe it is both??

One of the back of the quilt. This one is a wide backing fabric by Moda, the quality is wonderful.
If you haven't had enough of the photo's here are a couple more of close ups.

More sampler quilts can be seen here and here and here , I'm sure if you put 'sampler quilts' or 'traditional sampler' etc in the search bar on the top left hand corner of my blog you will find more, as I have quilted quite a few samplers!
