Ileen has made this quilt for one of her grandsons. Made using Kiwiana ( New Zealand ) fabrics. Ileen went onto Google and found The artist is Miri Te Ahi Puia designs to be just what she wanted for the applique blocks. This quilt measures 98 " x 108", Maderia poly neon threads over bamboo batting.
Ileen wanted me to quilt the Tiki's on the plain cream blocks, so I made a stencil. I used a variegated thread for the Tiki's eyes, like on did on the last quilt I did for Ileen, see here.
Because the borders & pieced blocks are made up of busy fabrics I simply stippled using a variegated thread also.
I have two more quilts to share with you, but need to wait until they are picked up by their owners.
Leaving you with a lovely saying.........................
"People may forget what you say or do, but they won't forget how you make them feel."
That is a lovely saying--and you did an wonderful job on the quilting of the Tikis. Love those eyes!
ReplyDeleteHi Leeanne, that has actually come together really nicely & I think it looks great. Usually I am not a fan of the kiwiana prints but I really like that combination & I love how you have quilted it, especially on the plain blocks.
ReplyDeleteLovely little verse and Oh so true :-)
That's such a unique quilt! Love the tiki quilting and the eyes are perfect - like bits of paua. Bet Ileen's grandson LOVES it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. Lovely that you've carried the NZ theme through :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow what a stunning quilt, if her grandson doesn't want it by any chance I know of a good home for it. Clever clever girl re the tiki's eyes! I can't see a variagted thread in the shops without thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteLove Leanne
Oh Leeanne this is beautiful
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make something similar for family living overseas
The tikiks are really effective with their paua eyes! I love that saying too, it's one I think of often!
