A story to tell

Sometimes you just have to face things head on..............................................
For many years I coveted The Angel Story quilt, two friends had both made the quilt. One friend photocopied the patterns for me. Then I had the opportunity to meet Anni Downs ( Hatched & Patched designer ).....who is the designer of Angel Story. That's when some wires got fused in my brain...........................
All designers are real people, with bills to pay, families, taxes, mortgages etc. So if I photocopy one of their designs surely that is a type of theft? I had all the a patterns at my finger tips, the 3 Sisters jelly roll, matching charm pack, a few fat 1/4's now all I needed to do was get to work. But I couldn't I had one more thing to purchase.......yes purchase....... The book.
So long story over, I bought the book & set to work!  P.S Anni is a really lovely person.

Needle turn Applique, stitchery, piecing & quilting by me. I used my favourite threads, Madeira & Gunold over Warm & Natural cotton batting.

My appliqued label, the backing fabric is the same as I used for my Heirloom Romance quilt.
I hope you enjoyed my show & tell........now for somewhere to put it????

  1. Hooray for you buying the book!! I'm proud of you. I have long been a champion for the holders of copyrights--though I hold none myself, I know people who do. I will not play or sing from photocopied music, nor will I quilt from a photocopied pattern and I applaud you for your realization, and for sharing it.
It is a lovely quilt. Such fun, quirky angels--beautiful work.

  2. Awesome finish and a great story Leeanne, sometimes we just don't realise the consequences of 'merely' copying a pattern etc. Your Angel Story quilt is delish, with lots of fun blocks. I like the double wine-glass (or coffee mug) quilting on the squares :-) very effective.

And I ESPECIALLY love the first pic of the cat!!!! Oh - & if you are having a struggle to find somewhere to display it, I could find somewhere at my house I am sure :-)

  11. Wow, your work is so neat and the quilting is fabulous. I'm sure you will find a place for it. The 2 angels are on a Christmas quilt, but one day, I'll pick the book out of my bookcase and go to see the patterns again, Love it!

    Have a lovely weekend, Cisca
