Sampler Quilt

Pretty in pink........that's what I would call this quilt. Leonie has been busy taking part in a modern block swap & piecing together the following quilt for her soon to be six year old daughter.

Leonie wanted cotton batting & custom quilting. A beautiful pieced backing (which I'm sorry, for some reason I didn't take a photo), a vintage sheet in the mix.

I did a mix of free motion 'bits n' bobs'...........you know the wiggles & squiggles! As well as some straight lines. Not to forget feathers!

You may remember I did a quilt for Cat earlier in the year, she too took part in the same block swap. See here for Cat's version.

But wait there is more............................................

Using mainly Madeira poly neon threads, there was a few hours stitching involved. Leonie is now on the job of binding.
Receiving a rather emotional thank you from Leonie was a lovely way to realise she was happy with the quilt.

Looky, looky what arrived in my mail box yesterday............................

Back in May I pre ordered this book from Judi of Greenfairy Quilts. I knew it would be a goodie. Although I had a long wait for the book to arrive, it was worth it! And after all, don't they say all good things come to those who wait?
Judi, in my humble opinion does the most breath taking quilting,  truly a work of art. This book comes with a CD with printable patterns.

  1. I love seeing how you quilt these blocks. You are very good at figuring out what to quilt, and you execute it well!
Judi does amazing quilting. So the book is helpful, even if you don't own a longarm?

  2. Wow !!! I love how you have quilted that one Leeanne ... makes each block really pop out at you. I love how you have done them all a bit differently but a similar theme. Gosh you were patient waiting since May for that book ... looks a goodie too :-)

  3. Your 'bits & bobs' quilting is beautiful, perfect for this sampler quilt. It will be a real family treasure for your customer. I'll have to go check out that book ... looking interesting. Do you get a rest pre-xmas now or are you still working finishing customer projects?
