Edyta Sitar of Laundry Baskets quilts designs some fabulous quilts just like this beauty! Aptly named "Homestead'. Kerryn, owner operator of The Country Yard made this lovely shop sample, are you tempted to sign up for a BOM?
Kerryn had me quilt the applique shapes rather than blanket stitching all those little pieces, I did so using Madeira's Monolon clear thread. Then filling and enhancing the background with echos, swirls and loops.
Because the vertical applique rows had decorative quilting I felt the houses needed some simplicity, cross hatching worked a treat.
Some swirls for the sashing and borders and this quilt was finished.
