Swimming ribbons and a jelly roll race

The first quilt I have to share with you today is the quilt Sheryl-Anne made her 17 year old daughter. Stitched with love, made from her daughters swimming ribbons!

Such a different quilt, but ever so special. Sheryl-Anne asked for ditch stitching between each ribbon length then a swirl on the sashings and borders.

Sheryl-Anne had stitched each ribbon on the a calico foundation using a loose zig zag stitch. Her choice of backing was denim and the batting was wool.

Next a quilt made by Raewyn for her 17 year old grandson. Raewyn participated in a Jelly Roll race!

Raewyn asked for an all over quilting design and left it up to me to choose the design. I chose "Gossamer". I used a Signature thread in autumn tones.

I'm sure these two teenagers will enjoy their quilts!

Next is a sneak peek of a Sue Spargo quilt I am working on, and just between us I have fallen in love with it!

Until next time be kind to each other and enjoy each day........................................

In memory of my Mum whom I said goodbye to after a battle with cancer.

  3. I did wonder about your mother, sorry to hear that she has passed away. What a great use of swimming ribbons, better than being pinned on a wall. I have looked at the Sue Spargo stuff and can see why you love it, look at the glorious colour she uses. Bit of me for sure. Take care of yourself Leeanne xxx.

  7. I am sorry your Mum has passed, so hard as our Mum and Dad have always been there for us, lost Mum 9years ago and Dad in 18984 and still miss and need them. Wonderful quilts, what a good way to use the swimming ribbons, sure to be cherished. I have a few jelly rolls but not worked up to a jelly roll quilt yet!

  9. I've always wondered what to do with our girls' ribbons - like the simple layout Sheryl-Anne used. I always think Sue Spargo's designs are lots of fun - all that wool and embellishment, something to try one day! Hugs.
