Hello Quilty Friends!
It's finally starting to cool off here, how's the weather in your neck of the woods? It's been a wet humid summer here so I'm not sad to say goodbye to it.
Today's line up of customer quilts are super beautiful, they signal all the seasons colours.

Thank you Jan, Lois & Thelma for entrusting your beautiful creations to me.
A few weeks ago a young family that we had grown fond of in our street moved to another area of New Zealand. I decided it would be nice to gift the two young girls (4yrs & 2yrs) a small quilt each. ( I don't need much of an excuse to make a quilt!) I'm happy to say they love their Fairy quilts. I found a cute soft flannel in my stash that was big enough for both quilt backs, that's always a bonus!
After a couple of years of procrastination I made myself some new oven mitts. I used two layers of that special heat resist batting (the proper name eludes me!) I threw my old gross ones out, goodbye!
One day a couple of weeks ago when 'dooms-day' scrolling social media I saw Telly Bean Knits cute "Showered in Rainbows" cardigan. I purchased the pattern & got knitting! An unusual construction ( for me anyway) Do I have a newborn to give this cardi too? No I don't, I figured it was a minimal commitment size, I'm sure I will hear of someone who might like it. ( I have a growing collection 😁)
On the book reading front I have read Kristin Hannah's The Great Alone for the second time.
Have you read any of her books?
Thanks for stopping by,
Leeanne.

Lots of gorgeous-ness here today Leeanne. I especially love the second quilt - that looks like wool applique in there amongst all the other lovely work.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to see touches of other Leeanne-stuff you are up to besides all your amazing quilting - I got out the book you recommended last time & am reading it & enjoying it. Those 2 girls are very lucky recipients of yr beautiful quilts, very striking looking new oven mitts! xx
Blooming Feathers works in so many fabrics and settings.
ReplyDeleteYour lovely custom work always gets a close study from me.
Loved the William Morris Charm Quilt, and the story behind it.
The Postage Stamp quilt is stunning, but there is not enough pink fabric in my house to create a quilt like that.
Flower Fairies were favorites of my girls when they were young--we had the whole set of books, and I made my youngest granddaughter a quilt from flower fairy fabric when she was moving to her big girl bed. Those panels make sweet quilts for little girls.
Nice job on the new oven mitts.
I had to laugh about the wee sweater. It is very fun, but I can't believe you whipped that thing up like that, with now small babe on the horizon to use it. At least you are prepared, should the need arise.
Two beautiful quilts there Leeanne and the fairies are stunning, love those fairies!! The knitted cardy is beautiful, wish it would fit me!! I do know that author and like her books, will go and look her up in the library, thanks for the heads up!
