Custom quilting an Irish Chain and an all over design.........

Soft and subtle is how I would best describe Michele's Nine patch Irish Chain. Soft creamy white and pastel little boxes of colour!

When I was last in Hawera in the Taranaki I stopped into Michele's lovely little quilt shop called "Wildflower Creations".....no website but you can find her on Facebook. While there she gave me two quilts to take away to be quilted, this one for custom and the other for all over quilting.

As you can see I did the required ditch stitching, then some orange peel on those nine patch blocks then some of my custom feathers on the plain blocks.

The back was interesting, the orange peel design created circles, which looked like bubbles or polka dots!

The second quilt Michele gave me is a pretty 'Shabby Chic' quilt, I quilted an all over pattern called Camelia's.

A soft and feminine quilt, it would look pretty draped in a room with the lovely creamy rustic furniture we are seeing more and more these days.

Thank you Michele, here's hoping you have many years of enjoyment from these pretty quilts either in your home or used as props in your lovely shop.

The sunrise driving to the Farmers market Saturday morning, a different story on the way home! A dark moody black sky.

Fancy more sneak peeks? 
Oh I couldn't do that to you all again......so soon! You have had enough sneak peeks to last you until Santa comes calling!
First up...................................................

This Amish Barn quilt was made by Kerryn as fabric inspiration for some fabric new to the shop. Take the feature fabric, cut a large square of it. Take some of the co- co-ordinating fabric & make stars. Sew them all together & you have a dashing quilt!
 Using poly 'soft & bright' batting I quilted the 'organic' cross-hatching through the middle piece of feature fabric, followed by some straight lines & curling ribbon. This quilt measures 60" x 60".

Secondly.....................................

A Muted Nine patch table runner. Measuring 19" x 64" this is a lovely runner. Quilted over cotton batting with an all over design & cross-hatching on the nine patches, using Gunold & Madeira poly threads. This is a available as a kit or pattern.
A photo of the front & back, just for you! Note all these quilts at the time of photographing needed the binding stitched down, lucky some special fairies came to help out! Thank you fairies, you know who you are.

Last, but not least.......................................................

 Antique Lace! A whack & stack method of piecing this pretty quilt, add some old Doilies & lace. Cotton batting was used as well at Madeira poly threads with an all over pattern except on the doilies, they got some special treatment. Of course where would we be with out a feather on the border? 64" x 64".

See some of those pretty lacey goodies.......very pretty....it can be hard to cut them up, but this way they are being used. If you have ones that are stained & you have given them a good soak, but still the mark is there, just cut it off, or plan to sew a button on!

My Quilt

Hello watchers, readers & bloggers, I am sharing with you today a finish of one of my quilts, with a bit of help from some friends.
Last year Eight friends decided to participate in a Pinwheel block swap, there were eight of us, so each month for the next .......I forget how many months it was something like 10mths we each made eight pinwheel blocks, many of us made them the super quick way........................

 

I started to put my blocks together at our retreat then I said to a few of the girls I wanted to add a applique header with either & house or an angel, I got some votes for a house, some for an angel, so I thought why can't I do both?

 

 

 

I haven't used all the pinwheel blocks, I thought I might make a cushion, or two, plus I used some in the pieced backing.

 

Block swaps are lots of fun, I have participated in a few now, if you missed them see here , here & here.

I didn't do any fancy quilting just straight lines & some stipple.

 

 

Because I had a lovely quilt hanger in my lounge, I added a hanging sleeve so now the quilt is up to enjoy!

Somehow I had got carried away & made extra blocks, I can't brag I made blocks this small, I just cut them down to 2" square!

Heavy rain here today, both my cats are very happy to be inside!
