Quilting for Janis

Hello Quilty Friends!
Just like that another month has gone. The weather has f-i-n-a-l-l-y turned cooler.
As a winter loving girl I'm happy!
There's something about lighting the fire, making a pot of soup &
snuggling under a quilt that makes me very happy.
I wonder if after so many years in the making of the following quilt, Janis will be snuggling under it?
I told her not to wait years to get that binding on so she can safely enjoy the fruits of her labour!

Janis' beautiful quilt BEFORE quilting.

quilting for Pam....................

Pam is another of my long standing customers that continues to enjoy patchwork and all the familiar warm feelings we as quilt makers share: friendship, comfort, happiness, contentment...........the list is as lengthy as we choose to make it. Although I don't make as many quilts as my lovely customers do I have these same feelings from seeing them in this state of utopia!

Pam had made three of these adorable hand painted and stitched Libby Richardson teddy bears, pieced, quilted and made them into three individual wall hangings when she decided to 'up-cycle' them into a quilt for a great niece instead.

With the help of Kerryn and her staff at The Country Yard the 'up-cycle' was complete all that was needed was some free hand custom quilting...........as you all know, it's not a quilt until it's quilted!

Pam had me attach the binding she had previously made and had kept with the quilt for safe keeping.............have you ever miss placed your binding?

This next quilt was a Mystery Stitchery through The Country Yard back in 2012. Some projects take time don't they?

The original can be seen in this blog post *here*. Pam didn't want the YoYo's on the top and bottom border as shown in the shop sample, she asked for me to quilt a vine.

Now for a photo of the back...........occasionally I remember to take one :-)

Thank you so much Pam. A couple of posts back I shared a photo of a flimsy of mine I had dragged out of it's long time resting spot to finally quilt it, well it's all finished, label and binding included!

A Bonnie Hunter design called Strippy Classic. W - A - Y back in 2011 I started this (see Pam it is OK to take your time!) All the 2.5" squares pieced together as Leader and Enders.

I loaded this huge quilt (90" x 100") sideways on my long arm machine and had some fun playing with some free hand quilting ideas. Swirls (nothing new here) on the scrappy square strips, ribbon candy on the blue strips (also nothing new here) swirling following feathers, seen here before but not quite like this and then a slightly different feather for the border combined with piano keys on the outer edge, something I have wanted to have a play with.

How fortunate was I to have the magical binding fairy stop by for a visit to finish this quilt? She/he (?) took temporary lodgings on our front lawn..................................

Thanks for stopping by, wishing you all a safe and happy Easter.
