Making, growing and thoughts.

see the wee 'peppermint' snowman, on the right there? Thank you friend, you know who you are!

My collection of snowmen has grown thanks to a couple of friends and my bargain spotting eyes! I found the bicycle riding snowman and Icicle playing snowman on sale for so little money that I won't share how much, as you will all be flocking to Northland to get your very own! And trust me there are enough people here to enjoy our beaches.

This is the Icicle playing snowman and the wooden peg snowman a friend made me. No snow here in Northland, just the white sandy beaches and smoking Barbecues and loaded up cars and caravans and boats...............................

There are of course the queues at the supermarkets and malls because you know the shops will close for one day and we might miss something!! Other than a trip to the supermarket and Farmers market yesterday I stayed away from crowd gathering areas...................

I have needed to be at home with my husband and cats..................yes cats.................meaning more than one cat...............see that amazing cat? He was made for me by a special friend, so I need to be at home to enjoy him. This is one Christmas decoration that will stay out all year long, he just too adorable to stuff away in some dark cupboard. Not only is he handsome but useful, he is very heavy making him the perfect doorstop. (I say 'him', but I really don't know his gender, he just seems to like being called a him)

Being at home is one of my ideal holidays, the thought of travelling when it seems every other New Zealander is travelling on the same road as you is not what I consider enjoyable. When at home you can relax ( or try to, I seem to have so much on my 'list' that is is hard to know where to begin). I thoroughly enjoy pottering and making things I have thought about all year. Like jazzing up some teatowels....................................

.............................and turning Moda tea toweling into cushions, with some simple applique and buttons.

Taking time to enjoy nature in my very own yard.......................................

There is beauty all around us we don't need to travel far.
Time to make sure I still remember how to quilt!

I hope your Christmas was enjoyable leaving you with a sense of peace and happiness. The New Year is nearly here, what will it hold?
Be safe and dream big, even if big is just being content at home!

  1. Nice to see more snowmen coming to you!! The flowers in your garden are beautiful...I am with you, staying away from the shops is the best way to go...to many people for me and it is hard to find a car park...better to sit in the garden and do some stitching! Love the cushions!

  2. Wow - quite the snowman collection!! Very cute! Love your new kitty too - I agree, I wouldn't want to put him/her away! We've just been up to the Far North, not so many people up there - it's a bit off the beaten track me thinks!

  4. You will have had cars full of Aucklanders invade your town!!! The new cat is gorgeous, to sex it, tip it upside down, lift its tail and count the dots!! That always worked for us!!! Enjoy your holiday at home, it is exactly what I am doing. I can day trip from here, Raglan is calling tonight, I am the sober D so we will come home, but I will still have my quota of fun. Garden photos are beautiful, might have to visit and take cuttings!!

  12. Hi Leeanne, sounds like you are having the prefect break. Perfect by my standards too! Home is the very best place on the planet to me, the place that you make perfect just for you and why on earth would you want to leave it to go pushing and shoving with half of New Zealand in the hot spots not to mention the bonkers traffic where all these people travel at the exact same time!!! Good for you staying at home and crafting and enjoying your space. The only place I have driven since just before xmas is to the osteopath on Tuesday...other than that the car's been parked up! Made sure I shopped up good before the silly season took a hold..LOL...Would love to meet you too one day, maybe when I have finally finished that Mountmellick!!!!! PS: LOVE your snowie collection!
