Double Wedding Ring Quilt

Jacki started this beauty in 1989 on her feather weight sewing machine. Measuring 94" x 108", cotton/bamboo batting & Madeira poly neon thread in ecru. I was delighted to quilt this for Jacki.

Jacki chose this design out of three I had a sketched up as 'possibles'. There are 56 of these motifs, not that I was counting! Lots of ditch stitching & some 1/4" seams on the 1/4 moons, were all Jacki wanted.

Jacki asked for the full 'Quiltme service', which is to make, attach & hand stitch binding in place as well as make a label. There were a few of these 1/4 moons in the bag, so I utilised one of these as the label.
I admit to have never making continuous bias binding. I couldn't seem to make head nor tails of the instructions from any books. So I turned to Youtube! I found some great video's showing just how to do this!

So now after nearly 25 years Jacki now has the pure joy of nestling under her quilt.
Thank you Jacki!

  3. That is a beauty and I think the quilting does it justice. Great job!
Sometimes we have to be forced into a situation to finally wrap our brain around a new technique, don't we? I do continuous bias binding, but I have never bound a quilt with a scalloped edge. When I need to can I call you? *LOL*
