English Paper Pieced Quilt & Anni Downs Design Quilt

Robyn posted this delightful clam shell quilt to me for custom quiling. Choosing wool/polyester blend batting, I used Glide thread in the colour 'warm grey'. Enjoy the photo's.....................

                       The backing.......................

Next is a sweet, fresh and rather funky quilt made by The Country Yard team. It's an Anni Downs Design called " The Story of my Day". If you look at some of the stitcheries they do capture snippets of my day and possibly our day too......................

Kerryn asked for the 'computer chip' quilting she had seen me quilt on other quilts then it was up to me to come up with something for the border, which if I'm honest had me stumped for awhile..........

But once I had SID around the appliqued pinwheels and 'boxed' them in the idea of soft wind tumbling the pinwheels came to me!

Kerryn asked for The Full Quiltmekiwi Binding Service.

You might enjoy a short video that travels over the quilt

Thank you Robyn and Kerryn for letting me loose on your lovely quilts, much appreciated.

See you there!.............................................

Animal quilts - series five.............................

Welcome back time for another two quilts from Juliet's book. First up is the Clydesdale Horse.

Sadly another one I missed taking a photo of the back. Juliet supplied some fabulous backing fabrics for all these quilts. As a horse lover and former horse owner I did love this small piece which is ironic as the piece measured 21" x 14" but real life Clydesdale's are much bigger than that!
Next Tiger..................look out he's coming your way!

Isn't the background fabric magic! I tried to quilt the look of long reed grasses...............................

                                                    Whalaaa...........a photo of the backing!

One more to share with you in another post. While sewing the binding on a quilt yesterday a had company..................

Washing line & Starwars quilts plus two stitchery pieces & a table runner..........................

Quilts by Cat and Elizabeth today. First is Cat's 'Washing Line' quilt. I do know the design is by Jane Brocket, I'm not sure why it is called the washing line quilt, perhaps someone can shed some light on that for us?

Cat asked for E2E quilting and she chose 'Amour' and Super Threads Fantastico 'Stained Glass' and the Full Quiltmekiwi binding service and cotton batting. Cat supplied the vintage sheet for the backing.

Next up also by Cat is her Starwars creation. It looks like a 'stack n' whack' method. Once again Cat asked for E2E quilting she chose 'Modern Squares' and Superiors thread Fantastico ' Walnut' and the Full Quiltmekiwi Binding Service.

Next are all Elizabeth's creations. Two lovely stitcheries by Lisa Young of Button Bliss. Elizabeth intends finish these both into wall hangings and to give these as wedding presents.

Next is the table runner Elizabeth made purely for herself! It's an Anni Downs design. Elizabeth sent all three items up to me and let me choose a backing fabric that would suit the three creations and I supplied the batting. To save on time (and money) I loaded all three creations together.

Now you must see the lovely label Elizabeth has made.............

Isn't it sweet! Thank you Elizabeth and Cat for once again letting me quilt for you, it is always a pleasure!

Julie's Bird Dance Quilt

Happy Tuesday quilt lovers! What a lovely long weekend it was, the weather wasn't the best for beach goers but it was still nice to have a long weekend. Maybe you worked in the garden, or had family gatherings, a spot of time at your sewing machine perhaps? Today I want to share with you Julie's Bird Dance quilt. Julie and are blogging buddies and met through me quilting her sister Janine's Bird Dance quilt earlier in the year. See *here* for Janine's Bird Dance quilt.

Julie and Janine (no blog) joined together to make themselves each one of these spectacular Sue Spargo quilts. Janine lives in Australia and Julie here in New Zealand. Both quilts are similar but with subtle differences in the birds and fabrics but is the most noticeable difference between the two quilts is the borders. Janine's had an applique vine with berries.

Julie wanted her borders left plain so I could do some of my "Feathery Flourish Quilting" .......Julie's description!

Julie chose a lovely backing fabric and got me to supply the wool batting.

To see more pop over to Julie's blog as she has more photo's of the quilting and bird details and the a photo of the quilt with it's binding on.

More quilts still to share, so please pop back, until then......................

Animal Quilts - series four

Time to share another two of Juliet's quilts from her book. Here's the Polar Bear hanging waiting to be posted back to Juliet in Christchurch.

Next are the Rhino's..........................................................

These guys ooze personality! Every time I quilt for Juliet her creations have me smiling, I love her choice of fabrics they add another dimension of interest.

Sometimes it's all about creating texture to let the piecing and fabric come to the forefront.

I have been enjoying my copy of this fabulous book, pondering which quilt to make first?

In the mean time while I ponder, the book has given me the push I needed to finish my Running Zebra quilt (also a design by Juliet). Here's the Zebra finished, only borders to go then the quilting.

Me 'wrangling' the two halves together!

The last couple of days I spent on Ururpukapuka Island. Starting at Rawhiti kayaking over to the island. Setting up camp, but hiking to the highest peak of the island to sleep out under the stars.....that was spectacular! The next day we kayaked around the circumference of the island, exploring caves, watching wild life and picnic lunching on the beach. The last night wasn't that great to sleep out under the stars so in our tents we went. Then kayaked back over to Rawhiti to the vehicles.

Another confirmation how lucky I am to live in paradise!
