Three personal finishes.......................

Welcome and Happy New Year! I hope your festive holidays were wonderful. Mine have been great, I have seen family and friends and started a new project and managed to quilt three of my own quilt tops.

Quilt Information:

Pattern - Moda Cake Mix Papers #2
Measurements - 53" x 67"
Batting - Wool/Polyester.
Backing - Blue Paisley.
Quilting - E2E Quilting - Geo Tiles.
Threads - Glide.

I started this quilt at a class at The Country Yard using two Kona Solids and a Moda Layer Cake - Road 15 by Sweetwater. I had a couple of spare blocks left over so one was snapped up to use as a label.

Quilt Information:

Pattern - Strawberries Forever - By Natalia Bonner
Measurements - 61" x 61"
Batting - Wool/Polyester.
Backing - Pieced from scraps.
Quilting - E2E Quilting - Snow Globe.
Threads - Glide.

Natalia asked me if I would do a pattern test for her, she gave me a choice of three patterns, I went with this fun quilt using my 2.5" squares. I haven't put a label on it yet as I haven't decided if it's a keeper or to give as a gift.

 Quilt Information:
Pattern - Scrap Vomit
Measurements - 53" x 53"
Batting - Polyester.
Backing - Pieced scrappy.
Quilting - E2E Quilting - Frilly Hearts
Threads - Glide.

Another quilt made from my 2.5" scrappy squares, this one is for my gift box.

I made three zippered pouches while my granddaughter stayed, they are addictive to make and likable as  my granddaughter has taken all three home! Again using my 2.5' squares people!

We went pony riding, visiting friends alpaca's, made muffins, did sewing together, went to the beach, not always taking a photo, simply enjoying and being plugged into the moment.

Some finishes of my own.......................

Hello and Happy New Year! Here in New Zealand it is summer, although today as a storm rips through the North Island it's hard to believe! Flooding, trees ripped up by their roots, poor camping grounds sending people away.

This has been me over the holiday period, a sense of bliss finishing UFO's and maybe a start of a new project or two.............but all inside of course! One finish is my "Otters in Space" quilt. The name of the quilt is really Isobella from Donna's Quilt Studio but because I fussy cut some otters from my Tula Pink fabric I thought the name was fitting especially when I was quilting this as it got me thinking it looked like a spaceship in space, then I fondly remembered the Muppet's "Pigs in Space" episodes I love to watch as a kid.

English paper pieced using Tula Pink, Blueberry Park, Kaffe Fassett and others varieties. Appliqued onto a wide baking fabric, two layers of batting and a whole heap of fun quilting time!

I'm sure there are feathers and Otters in space right?

Finished off with a flange binding, I'm rather pleased with my efforts.

The next finish is my Mandolin block from Tales of Cloth another English paper piecing finish. I loved making this! And when I saw an idea to frame a block in a hand quilting hoop that was it for me. My hand quilting days are long over.

The middle section is from a vintage linen (see this post about that) and Alison Glass, Tula Pink & Cotton & Steel fabrics. Then appliqued onto a plain piece of vintage linen. Then of course some quilting.

Another finish which was so much fun to make is my Hipster Fox cushion, a Quilt Art Design. This time foundation paper pieced.

Here he is in sections - he's not feeling all together! :-)

The background fabric was rescued from my husbands OPShop pile of clothes........I love it when he buys 100% cotton shirts!

a touch of colouring in sections to keep me from getting muddled.
My next finish is a quilt I finished part way through last year that has been sitting waiting to be quilted, so I thought it was a good time to finish it proper like! It's a Angela Walters quilt from the Midnight Quilt Show........anyone else watch those? I love them, she's very humorous!

The quilt is called "On Point". It's a Jelly Roll quilt that sews together quickly. The Jelly roll is a Moda one by Basic Grey but I used a Kona solid in grey which as you can see isn't a perfect match, but do I mind? NO! Some simple quilting got this finished and my husband has surprised me yet again by saying he really likes this quilt, as you know between him and I we see many different quilts because of my quilting business.

Even though this was probably only several hours worth of quilting it was on my quilting frame for a few days, I would quilt a few rows, have a cuppa then go to my sewing machine to do some scrap quilt piecing then another cuppa and back for some more quilting......real holiday mode around here!

For now those are all my finishes, I have a couple more scrap quilts on the go and several more quilt tops to be quilted, but I am just going with the flow.

Thank you so much for stopping by and seeing some of my own quilts for a change. Next time it will be my lovely customers quilts here on show.
Until then I shall share with you my current screen saver......my three beautiful grandchildren xxx

Sue and Pam's Quilts

Welcome back and hello. The sun is out today after a wet and chilly weekend, winter is getting the last word! Today I share with you Pam's wall hanging and Sue's two quilts. First is Pam's wall hanging made for her son after a trip to Alaska together where Pam's son chose this kit from Northern Threads Designs a quilt store they visited while in Alaska. Pam asked me to quilt the same as the sample on the pattern.

Next are two quilts from Sue, all bound for Texas next month. Sue keeps me in steady supply of quilts as she has a big family in Texas that she lovingly supplies with quilts. This first one is for Sue's great grandson and Sue wanted 'Gummy Bears' E2E pattern, Sue has had this design before and likes it for kids quilts.

The back.....................................

The next one from Sue is one made for her granddaughter. Sue asked for Hearts.......I used "Amour".

Sue likes the polyester batting I have in stock. I wish her safe travels and lots of warm hugs when her loved ones receive her heart felt quilts.

I have been distracted from my Running Zebra quilt by this little fella lately, my daughter keeps sending cute photo's and video's of him, making me miss him even more!

And then there is also my new English Paper Piecing distraction. Donna Ward has started a sew along on Instagram that I just fell in love with! I have been reluctantly cutting into some treasured Tula Pink fabric. Here is a progress collage:

Animal Quilts..........final quilt

Welcome back to the last quilt from Juliet's book that I quilted. So although it's last in the series it is be no means least!

Howl is on page 102 of Juliet's book. This was the first one I quilted for the book. Most times Juliet leaves it up to me how to quilt her stunning creations but this time Juliet wanted me to portray a 'night sky'...................

Guess what...............no photo of the backing! Arrrgg.......sorry! This was the largest of the quilts that featured in the book. I hope you have enjoyed seeing the details of these spectacular quilts as much as I have seeing them all over again.

My daughter sent me this photo of Marley my grandson (7 weeks old) having tummy time on the quilt I made for him. Just seeing him makes me miss him even more!
