Hello Quilty Friends!

I have a wonderfully colourful & textured post for you today, if only it was a 'touch screen' then you would surely be rubbing her hands over the two Sue Spargo quilts!

Janine's Flora hand embroidered wool quilt was finished last year but due to Sue Spargo's rules I could not share photo's until the pattern was released to the masses!

You will also see Judith's Chirp quilt, another Sue Spargo design.

But first lets take a look at Cherie's two colourful rail fence quilts made to gift to a boy & one for a girl.

A recent finish of mine is BIRDS OF AOTEAROA. I purchased the gorgeous Ellen Giggenbach panel then got to rummaging through my stash for suitable coordinating fabrics. I got the quilt top together in fair time but then it hung around waiting for quilting. I sent a request to an American digital designer for a Kowhai border. I was delighted with their design, I think it makes the quilt.

True to form this is another quilt that IS FOR SALE!

The Christmas holidays involved a biking break in Taupo riding the two Kinloch rides - The Otaketake K2K & Headland Loop W2K. Both are spectacular in views. We ended one of the rides with a VERY quick swim in the lake, it was cold!

We treated ourselves twice to coffee & lunch at LÁrte Cafe 

- if I once again lived in Taupo I would be broke from this fabulous cafe, 

it's my all time favourite! 

After looking through Luke Haynes Instagram profile then signing up for an online class I came home from our biking holiday & launched straight into making Taylor Swift Portrait! 

So much fun & totally engrossing!

Before we headed away I made my friend & her husband a quilted Christmas stocking each. I used a piece a silk dupioni. Lucky for you if you are interested I made a video of the making of those too!

Inside the stockings were some chocolates & a pair of socks I knitted them each:

And - last but not LEAST, my Moss Blossom Shawl! 

I started this in September 2024 & after a few false starts - aka 'unknitting' I finished.

 It was lovely to knit, so soft. Now for some winter weather & a posh place to wear it other than in front of my long arm machine in my slippers! 😄

One final thing if you have lasted this long, I purchased two kit set shelving units from Bunnings to better store my wide backing fabrics:

FOUR Tradewinds Quilts!

Hello Quilty Friends!

WARNING......these quilts might make you feel crossed eye, wobbly or even wondering if you've been smoking magic mushrooms! Same quilts, just slight variations.

It seems like light years ago I quilted these. Raewyn's one was quilted in May 2023!

 They had to remain a deep dark secret until Sue Spargo released this design to the public. 

I tried to quilt each one a little differently. See if you can spot the differences.

So here are Janine, Kay, Raewyn & Sherrill's gorgeous Tradewind quilts.

Janine personalised her quilt slightly to gift for her daughter that is a diver.

How many differences did you spot? 

I was told by these AMAZING creators that some of the hand embroidery stitches take two hours for each type of  embroidery, can you imagine just HOW LONG these quilts take to create? 

I know it takes me a long time to quilt each one.
