The need to share exciting news this week is strong: I sold TWO quilts from my shop!!
Whenever a sale occurs I'm soooo darn happy I could dance!
I love to think a baby, newly weds or someone's friend is wrapped in one of the quilts I made.
They are all made with love, because I LOVE making quilts - have I mentioned that before
What an incredible long lasting gift a quilt makes.
These are the two I sold this week:

I have many more quilts available in my shop if you are looking for a special gift.
It could well become a family heirloom.

Last weekend I loaded up some backing fabric to accommodate some beautiful olive green
satin I purchased from an OpShop.
I wanted to quilt table runners & Christmas stockings. Once I'd quilted up all the satin I still had backing fabric space, so the 'waste-not-want-not' me HAD to keep adding more bits of fabric & keep quilting until it was all used up.
Three days of quilting & all the backing fabric was used up with all sorts of quilted pieces! Here is a short video of me unloading the l-o-n-g quilted piece!

Below is a photo of the finished stockings I made. They are for sale (not listed in my shop yet).
When I finish making up the other quilted pieces I will share photos with you all. 😁
I did put some fun videos on my Instagram page.

I recently finished reading this book, such a wonderful read.
Kristin Hannah is fast becoming my favourite author.

The latest pair of knitted socks gifted to a sweet friend x

Here's hoping you enjoyed this post, as always its lovely to read your comments.

Quilting for Deb, Linda & Pascal

Hello Quilty Friends!
Did someone say it's July?? Wowzier, where did June go?
So much seems to have happened since my last post, I'm a year older, I've been away twice for bike riding trips, to a quilt retreat & the temperatures have dropped (yay!)
There are beautiful quilts to share - always beautiful quilts.

Pascal is a textile design student. It's the top layer,
there are a few lighter layers of underskirts that go underneath it.
The whole outfit is meant to look like it has been worn through the sea so the hems are
 all painted a little darker.

As I mentioned in my previous post it was my birthday month in June, so I had a getaway with two special friends, doing what I love: Bike riding, sewing, knitting & enjoying time with good friends.
I managed to catch up with another special friend on the way home to exchange birthday presents.
I was treated to a new book & special book mark, soap, chocolate (not sure where that went 😀) & the most beautiful smelling potpourri.

Then no sooner had I arrived home, washed VERY muddy bikes & unpacked sewing machines etc.
I got asked to be a female support person for a group of year 13 PE students bike packing ( all their tents, clothes & cooking in packs) in panniers for a three day 120km journey. Unfortunately we only got the first day (37km's) completed as the weather took a turn for the worse. Wet tents, sleeping bags, wind & heavy rain aren't the best combination!

Thanks for sticking around & hopefully enjoying this very eclectic blog post.

Next is a special commissioned piece. Siobhan has bought several quilts from me, you know the ones I make to sell:Quiltmekiwi Quilt Shop .
So when she cleared out her parents home in Ireland she knew she wanted a memory quilt made from her fathers neck ties, mothers wedding gloves, doilies and furnishing fabrics.
Siobhan contacted me, asking if I would take the project on. Of course!
She chose the quilt pattern, which we adjusted in size to fit to a wall space.
If you are interested I made a time lapsed construction video for my Youtube channel
which I will link at the bottom of this post.

The gloves Siobhan's mother wore on her wedding day appliqued to the front.

Pieced tablecloth and cushion covers for backing. Hanging sleeve along the top.
