five years

That's how long it took me to from start to finish........................

Heirloom Romance by Crab Apple Hill. Handbags & crazy patch blocks embroidered by hand. Trapunto behind each handbag & many beads.

I quilted each background heavily to make each bag 'pop' with free form quilting, also known as doodling!
Each horizontal & vertical row is quilted using a embroidery stitch from my Bernina 440.

The last block which is in the centre of the quilt is a fan.
"Memories of by gone days & evenings of elegance & grace"
I had the top sitting finished for a year, before I decided I should start quilting it!
I did work on it in the evenings after customers quilts.

gone to the birds!

Ngaire's been at it again! Busy, busy............................

Ngaire wanted me to quilt the background to look like sky & water....I hope I pulled it off.

This wall hanging was in a New Zealand Quilter magazine issue #79 called 'Stitchbirds' or the Maori name Hihi. Stitchbird is a member of the honey eater family, like two New Zealand honey eater birds the Tui & Bellbird, they feed on a mixture of nectar, fruit & insects.
If you missed the post with Ngaire's Wood Pigeon you can go here
I have a couple of other customer quilts finished, but I can't show you them just yet. Here is a sneaky peak of one I am working on now..............

I hope your week is off to a great start, it was a l~ o~ n~ g weekend here, Friday was teacher only day, then today was Labour day.

Border design

Lots of Madeira polyneon threads used & a few Gunold ones too.

do you like the feathers on the angel wings?
Button's will be attached for eyes etc.

Last but not least the back, I wish I could have captured the lovely soft green.

A new iron

Boy I bet that got you excited!!!
I have been through many irons. I have come to the conclusion not to put water in my irons, it just seemed to make my iron a mess, then when I read on Bonnie Hunters blog she & others don't use water in their irons either, I didn't feel alone.
So here it is...............
It is cordless................
Last night I finished knitting my scarf, gee I really enjoyed knitting, I haven't done it for years. I use to knit for others & get paid....many years ago.
I had to think how to cast off!

Some of my quilting, I hope to have this finished one of these days. Then I will share the whole quilt.

Things are pretty soggy here in Northland, so much rain!

Hi all! way back here I won a Lynette Anderson pattern. Well I'm a bit embarrassed that it has taken me this long to start! Any how here is the pencil case.
Pretty cool aye! I used a charm pack called Kashmir by Sentimental Studio. The lining was a Harriet Hargraves fabric I found at the Stone Store   Kerikeri. I  now need to make the journal. In a couple of weeks I am going to a Lynette Anderson workshop, hosted by Grandmother Garden , should be fun.

Customer quilts..................

Ngaire has been busy making wall hangings...................

1" squares for the border!!
I really like the first one, it is a wood pigeon, I didn't do any background fillers like the others. I thought I can always do some if Ngaire would like me to.
A few close ups................
