Just finished a really neat book: THESE IS MY WORDS -by Nancy E.Turner.The diary of Sarah Agnes Prine 1881 - 1901 Arizona Territories. This book was inspired by the author's original family memoirs. It has a few mentions of quilting, but mostly just an interesting look into the hardships of that time. Written in a diary format so it is quick easy reading.
I feel I will miss reading about that way of life, but I have the next novel ;SARAH'S QUILT (promising title!)
Here is one of my favourite pieces from the book:
Children are a burden to a mother, but not the way a heavy box is to a mule. Our children weigh hard on my heart, and thinking about them growing up honest and healthy, or just living to grow up at all, makes a load in my chest that is bigger than the safe at the bank, and more valuable to me than all the gold inside it.

here is a shot of last years Tuesday Mystery from The Country Yard. I'm pleased with how it turned out.
Because I personally like quite dense quilting that is what I did. The treadle was my grandmothers and is still working...but not by me. I seem to lack the co-ordination,my hands go back and forth and my mouth opens!!?

This is a bag I designed a few months ago, it was fun and very uplifting to design something. What was a bit of icing on the cake was someone bought a pattern!I used a charm pack Butterfly Garden by-Kansas Troubles (Moda) and neat red bag handles from Studio Mio.
When I get more clear head space I'm keen to come up with another design, until then back to quilting.

Here is my first go at blogging.I find I am in a foreign land while on the computer...still it doesn't hurt to try these things!
I am very lucky to be given some wonderful quilts to complete for some talented quilters. This is something I take pretty seriously and often a lot of thought goes into what quilting design I am going to do.
Here is a snapshot of a quilt I have just completed for a new comer to the quilting world, and I must say she does some lovely work.
