Making your own stencils....

making my own stencil
Often I will free hand feathers, but be because the quilt I am working on has many of these blocks that are having feathers I wanted them the same.So I drew the feather on lunch paper then using my machine with an older needle I 'sewed' on my lines.then using a water soluble marker poked through holes with the marker pen.

This is one of many blocks ready for the marker pen to be removed.
This quilt is taking me a while as it is 96" square, has wool batting and there is no snow here!!
The setting of this quilt is so lovely...I look forward to posting the finished quilt so you can all see it's beauty.

  9. Thats what I do too Leanne - its great...I dont use the pen though I have a pounce pad that is rubbed over the paper...If you are doing a lot, as you are, it may rub off...I have the powder in blue for the light colours and white for the dark. Your quit is beautiful - what a size! I am so looking forwad to seeing it when its finished. Hot - yes its that way here...total fire ban on so not too keen on using the evaparative air con...but its getting close to having it on. Hope you have some way to keep cool.
