Lynette Anderson's My Garden finished & snuggly babies.......

With my leftovers I made a label..this really was a fun, cute quilt to make.
I am looking forward to making Christmas Fun which is starting in march at www.thecountryyard.co.nz

Lynette Anderson's My Garden BOM
I quilted this very simply, in the ditches and using Aurifil 12wt thread for the cross hatching on the border.

Aren't these blocks and button's so cute?

And now to babies.........

Flannelet top and a candlewick backing....if you were a baby I'm sure you would be happy sleeping under this soft quilt.
I kept the quilting to a minim so that is is soft and snuggly.

Loopy loops on the border.

With a baby due any day.....I hope the baby this is for will be a happy content one!

On a sad note,we are thinking of all those affected in Christchurch....love and warm thoughts to you all xxxx.............

My Garden # 9 and ........butterflies and houses......

My Garden mth 9
lucky last!!!! This block is minus the cute button as I have pieced the top ready for quilting, and those buttons can get in the way while quilting.
I have already signed up for lynette's new button club which I'm sure will be as cute as this one.

Last week I finished quilting this top for an awesome quilt shop. This is a Gail Pan design, the pattern is called "Somerhill House" , fabric by Moda.

Don't you just love that house!! This quilt was made by many hands....Raewyn did the needleturn.
Look at this yummy wide Ric Rac.....you can buy this here

Another finish......................

Marcelle's Purple Butterfly Quilt

Another finish, Marcelle has been busy making quilts, you will see a couple more of her creations in coming weeks.
Using some of my favourite threads Madeira Polyneon's and Mettler Poly Sheen I did a funky feather on the border. The rail fence blocks I did looping butterflies.

Have a happy creative evening!

Log Cabin Lovers........

Jinny Beyer Somerset log cabin
How do you like the setting of this Log Cabin quilt???
I love it, so different and visually stunning.
Margaret made this beauty and I have to tell you, this quilt has been very well made. All foundation pieced.
Measuring 96" x 96" this was not a quick weekend project for Margaret! This quilt has wool batting, so I was very cosy quilting this...
Margaret will now have a lovely warm quilt for winter.

Using Madeira Metallic thread for a bit of sparkle on the brown fabrics I carried the design I did in the centre of the quilt out to the four corners.I did Woven Lines on the border.I got this idea from Leah Day  and carried the idea to some other blocks too..............

Making your own stencils....

making my own stencil
Often I will free hand feathers, but be because the quilt I am working on has many of these blocks that are having feathers I wanted them the same.So I drew the feather on lunch paper then using my machine with an older needle I 'sewed' on my lines.then using a water soluble marker poked through holes with the marker pen.

This is one of many blocks ready for the marker pen to be removed.
This quilt is taking me a while as it is 96" square, has wool batting and there is no snow here!!
The setting of this quilt is so lovely...I look forward to posting the finished quilt so you can all see it's beauty.

quilting designs

Do you ever have problems with deciding what to quilt? I do sometimes....often the quilt will 'tell' me...sounds spooky I know, but some quilts just know how they wanna look, and who's gonna mess with that?
But the quilt I am working on at the moment is just not coming to play, so I took a photo of it and printed out in black n' white and now I'm drawing on the print out for ideas.
Just thought I'd share that with you.

"From Rags to Riches"

My husband's niece came to visit for a couple of days because she wanted to make a quilt.

I cut out 36 x  8" squares of 3 different flannels for the front and 36 x 8" squares of cotton for the back and 36 x  7" squares of cotton batting and that was all I did, she chose the thread and did all the sewing and clipping, not bad for her first quilt.
I did get a few heavy sighs when she was doing the clipping, but I think is is proud to say she made this quilt.

this quilt was made the same way
