A Jane Sassaman quilt and a Kaffe Fassett beauty.

It's Friday here in New Zealand, the sun is shinning but there is an Autumn tinge in the sunlight.
First to share today is Mary's Jane Sassaman quilt made for her 21yr old granddaughter.

Mary asked for an all over design through the central region of the quilt then a bit of custom quilting on the border. I used Glide thread, can you guess what colour??? Black!

Because Mary had black backing she chose black batting. I sure hope Mary's granddaughter likes her vibrant funky quilt! Thank you Mary for letting me quilt for you.

While we are looking at vibrant quilts here is another, this time a Kaffe Fassett quilt made by Norma.

Norma was delighted with the all over design called " Camellia's" and I used a lovely bright Fantastico thread by Superior called " Cha Cha".

I recently finished a doll carrier for my soon to be 4yr old granddaughter. I bought the doll from an Opshop (my daughter is quite happy with secondhand things) which was dressed in a brand new knitted ensemble which included a dress, bonnet and knickers! I bought her home and washed her then set to work on a bed for her. I found the pattern in an older Creating Country Threads magazine. The designer was Heather Waldron, it was perfect for the wee doll.

She has a mattress, pillow and of course a quilt, I also made a little bunting from some of the same fabrics. Here's hoping my granddaughter has many hours of fun!
Thanks for stopping by, wishing you a restful weekend.

  4. Kaffee fabrics have that "Zing", lovely, and what a dear wee doll's bed. Not to say the bunting and all the clothes will not be equally wonderful, I remember sewing doll's clothes, really fiddly when so small.

  5. What a brightness on a dark rainy day, Here it looks like autumn instead of nearly spring! Lovely quiltwork on both, but especially the Kaffe Fassett's camelia's. And the doll and bed are so sweet!
    Happy weekend, Cisca

  7. Both beautiful quilts, I've always been a fan of Jane Sassaman fabrics and what wonderful cutting to show off the design. You can guess that I love the KF quilt, no surprises there, and the all over quilting design suits it so well.
