My Garden BOM

Here is the first block of Lynette Anderson's Mystery BOM  completed!! So cute.....
I am making this as a sample for The Country Yard
We have sourced the same fabric's that Lynette has used.
I did the stitching in Aurifil threads, which are just lovely to use.
Go here to find out how you can join in the fun...but be quick as places are going very fast!!

Now I just have to wait for block 2.........what will I do?? Quilting!

Watch this space as I am quilting 'Under the Southern Stars'.

Leaders and Enders

Could a gal be more lucky???
This book is soooo good I wanted to eat it!
I don't like to idolize people, but Bonnie Hunter is such a wonderful creative person.I have put Bonnie's scrap storage methods in place and I have made one quilt (spools, see previous post) and have started Maverick Stars and of course there are Crumbs!
So if you don't have this book...I highly recommend it

Butterfly Quilt

Here is a beauty of a quilt I have just finished quilting for Marcelle. Marcelle has made this as a gift for some very lucky person. I love the vibrancy of the quilt.
I used one of Aurifil's new Metallic threads called :'Brillo' for the butterfly's flight path also the wave up the stem of the feather.

better photo?

Well I'm sure the quality of this photo isn't better...but it does give you a view of the whole quilt.

Look what else I have been working on.....
Maverick Stars, scrappy and oh so yummy.
I was looking at stashmanicure site and saw a post by Jo at joscountryjunction where Jo had finished this lovely quilt. Jo is clearly a big fan of Bonnie Hunter and her great ways, as am I.
I got out my box of 2 1/2" squares and got to work. I am a OCC.......which is short for
" Obsessive Complusive Crumber" so I was concerned that my Crumb making days might be over...but NO! You still use Crumbs...yippie! As with Crumbs this is another way to do some peaceful sewing, no real thinking required and best part all, your scraps are getting used, even if the box looks like it has not been touched!
If you haven't looked into Bonnie's stash busting methods go here . Go here for Maverick Stars.

Finished Quilt

Here is Jenny's Quilt. Jenny got this as a BOM from The Country Yard .This is a large quilt (I will get someone to hold this up while I take a photo as it is a bit cropped in this photo). The fabric was designed by Marie Osmond......when I was a child I had the Marie Osmond barbie doll!
This is a real beauty of a quilt and Jenny did a lovely job job of the piecing.

I had real fun working on this quilt..Jenny kindly gave me the freedom to do as I wish, which is something I take pretty seriously.
I designed some feathers to go in these corner triangles then thought cross hatching would look nice and crisp. Please click on these photo's for a close up.

My first go at a feather in a square..it is just a matter of filling the space. I used Signature variegated thread for the feathers on the non cream fabrics.

Once again a feather to fill a square, this time the plumes come off the centre as well as the outside of the stem. I used Maderia Polyneon in a cream for these feathers.

Same as above only a variation in the block.

Loop-De-loops work well for butterfly's and bee's etc, I carried this over to the lacy areas.

This BOM is called 'Antique Lace'...a suitable name I think.

I will work on getting a better photo of the whole quilt and add at a later date.
