Quilt for baby and quilt for 21yr old.................

My lovely customers have been busy creating fabulously fun funky quilts.................come see!

Marcelle is a generous quilt maker, often squeezing in quilt making for others between all her motherly duties. This happy quilt made from scraps is for a friend of a friends grandchild.......I hope I got that right Marcelle.

Marcelle requested cross hatching for the nine patch blocks then "something for the start blocks".

Those star blocks got stars! As well as a cross hatch in the middle square for continuity with the ninepatch blocks.

I used a sherbet coloured Madeira polyneon thread for all the decorative stitching over a polyester batting.

The baby about to receive this snuggly colourful quilt is sure to feel the love and thoughtfulness Marcelle has stitched in each seam.

Next up to share is Noeline's fun giggle time quilt made for her 21yr old granddaughter, come and share in a few laughs with me!

Apparently this block (before quilting) is Noeline's granddaughter to a 'T'............I must admit it rang true for me too :-)

                                                              Ain't that true!!
Noeline asked for simple quilting and no quilting over the cartoon blocks.

Looping meandering swirls and hearts seemed just right for this fun loving young women. I used a soft mauve Glide thread over cotton/bamboo batting.

Ribbon candy on that lovely stripey border worked a treat, the pink sashing has ditch stitching either side.

This photo was taken at the end of the day so unfortunately it makes the quilt look dull, which it is anything but dull!
One more block for a laugh..........................

Last Friday late afternoon hubby and I took a drive out to Ocean beach.

We climbed up and up, see those dots on the beach? They are people.

From up top we spotted a pod of Finns.......possibly dolphins. They were too far away to get a decent photo with my phone. Google Ocean beach and the images you will find are breath taking. On the way home we stopped for fish and chips, a lovely treat to end a pretty winter day.

Another sampler for you to view..........

Kerry's finished sampler quilt, Design called " French Connection",designed by "Jans Designz"  Janis & Ans.
Kerry used the new Stof fabric range. I think Kerry's choice of fabrics has made for a stunning quilt.
Using Madeira polyneon  & Gunold threads.

A quilt with healing powers

the black backing
This quilt measures 90" x 104", has cotton batting, made by Marcelle for a friend.
There were no Jelly rolls harmed in the making of this quilt.....but because this is a rail fence quilt, jelly rolls could be used.
The appliqué sashing was hand drawn out over many hours by Marcelle which she then wanted repeated as a quilting design on the borders.
This design is a hammer head shark, the Maori meaning is strength & power. Which is very symbolic for Marcelle's friend & her family as they have gone through some personal losses in their family recently.
If you click on the photo's you will see on the border design I double stitched using Madeira variegated polyneon thread, the same thread Marcelle used for the buttonhole stitch on the appliqué sashing, as I felt this would give more definition to the design. For the inner part of the quilt I quilted an all over wave/ hammer head shark design.

A quilt from Remarkable Symposium........

This quilt was made by Jacki at Remarkable Symposium 2011. The design is by Lisa Walton of http://www.dyedheaven.com/ . Jacki attended one of the classes on offer called "Cutout Magic".

Jacki picked this quilt up today and was  so excited she hugged me! I made and attached a hanging sleeve and attached the binding ready for Jacki to hand sew down.

I'm not sure if you can see the quilting I did....maybe if you click on the photo you will see. I just free motioned the red cutouts using Madeira Polyneon thread and stitched in the ditch either side of the red wavy border.

Nice texture

Look at this lovely simple quilt that Meg has made and let me quilt for her.
Meg asked for a stipple in the centre and 'something' on the border.

Please click on photo's for clearer views.

I hope Meg likes the 'something' I did on the border using Signature Variegated thread and Madeira Poly Neon.

Here is a corner of the back.

Layer cake quilt

Denise made this quilt at a class at The Country Yard using a layer cake by 3 sisters called 'Oasis' (my photo is sideways....sorry if you have a crooked neck!)

Denise wanted me to keep the quilting simple,so I did a loose stipple using Maderia's variegated rayon thread for the square blocks and circles and the top and bottom border, Denise is going to scallop the bottom border. I also loosely stippled the cream borders using Maderias cream poly neon and for the echo on either side of the jumbo Ric Rac.

For a completely different look using a layer cake and the same pattern go see this I did a while ago

Mid winter Christmas

Mid winter Christmas!
This lovely quilt was designed by the country yard for a pieced mystery and I was lucky enough to quilt one of the samples.Simple clever setting in lovely fabrics by Nancy Halverson.

Using my stash of Maderia poly neon threads I played!

Back of quilt

Megan did a fabulous job of piecing this quilt and thank you to her for allowing me to quilt for her.
