Quilting for Janis

Hello Quilty Friends!
Just like that another month has gone. The weather has f-i-n-a-l-l-y turned cooler.
As a winter loving girl I'm happy!
There's something about lighting the fire, making a pot of soup &
snuggling under a quilt that makes me very happy.
I wonder if after so many years in the making of the following quilt, Janis will be snuggling under it?
I told her not to wait years to get that binding on so she can safely enjoy the fruits of her labour!

Janis' beautiful quilt BEFORE quilting.

Quilt Information:

Pattern - Remember When by Libby Richardson.
Measurements - 64"x 64"
Quilting - Custom Quilting.
Batting - Cotton - Purchased from me.
Backing - Marcell - Purchased from me.
Threads - Glide - Linen, Mocha, Cool Mint.

Here's a short video of the complete top:

Thank you for entrusting me with your quilt Janis, I'm sure it will become a family heirloom.

To finish off this post is a quilt I recently finished too, although it didn't take years to make, just a couple of weeks:

Custom Quilting for Jan

Hello Quilty Friends!
After loads of hours of work Jan now has her quilt back I thought I'd share photos.
Do you want to see???
There was quite a bit of interest from the photos & videos I shared on my social media pages.
I had planning thoughts & ideas, in the end I just had to get cracking on this pretty quilt!
Jan gave me creative license, which is super helpful I find the ideas can flow freely,
 especially after coffee!

Quilting for Giles & Bye-Bye 2024!

Hello Quilty Friends!
This is my last blog post for 2024.
What a funny old year it has been, a mixed bag of good stuff,
boring stuff, annoying stuff & EXCITING STUFF!
But I shall end the year with not the last two quilts I completed for customers, but simply two that have been waiting in a file on my desktop for several weeks because Giles two VERY unique quilts are now hung in The Suter Art Gallery I've been working with Giles for several years now & whenever one of his quilt tops arrive in the post it's never boring.
All his creations are his design, no patterns or BOM for him.
Lets take a look at WARHORSE - TERROR BIRD (diptych) 2024:

Quilt Information:

Pattern - Giles' own design - Warhorse - Terror Bird (more details below)
Measurements - 83"x 83" (two quilts each)
Quilting - E2E Quilting - Basket Weave.
Batting - Cotton - Purchased from me.
Backing - Supplied by Giles.
Threads - Glide - Garnet.

Below, two video's of me removing each quilt from the long arm machine:

Here is an excerpt of the gallery's overview of Giles' work:

Warhorse-Terror Bird, Panting says, is not an anti-war quilt, rather
the response of a father of two young men to the way countries
continue to behave when war is declared.
He reflects:
On 24th February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine.
On 25th February 2022, Ukraine closed its borders to men
aged 18 - 60. Warhorse-Terror Bird draws on a tradition of
quilts that are made entirely from red and cream fabric and
that include abstract, geometric quilt blocks to convey
meaning. Here, I’ve included 'drone' corner blocks and the
'kissing missile' blocks for the borders, along with a traditional
mariner's compass design as the comet/projectile image.
Scandinavian tapestry weaving is referenced in the design of
the horses and bird.
Giles Panting, October 2024

To see find out more & see these & other works from Giles visit
The Suter Art Gallery between now 2nd March 2025.
Two in gallery photo's from Giles:

With just a few more sleeps until Mr-Man-in-the-RED-suit arrives
I hope you plan some serious relaxing like I do!
See ya next year!!

Sadly we had to have him put to sleep. He got sick & suddenly.
We will miss his sweet face & crazy antics that kept us amused.
