Helen Stubbings & Kathy Schmitz fabrics

                                                    Hello and welcome good people!
Today I am sharing with you Fleur's pretty baby quilt and one of my own quilts finished.

Isn't this a  pretty little quilt, so soft and sweet, made from Helen Stubbings fabrics, simple piecing and simple quilting.

Fleur asked for simple ditch stitching and cross hatching.............done!
A photo of the back shows off the simplicity, the use of wool batting has worked well.

I am excited to share a finish of my own, my Wendy Briggs stitcheries using a fat quarter bundle by Kathy Schmitz , her fabric range "Piecemakers".

I really like the traditional style of cross hatching across the stitcheries, to do this I always used a fine blending thread. The stitcheries themselves were completed using Cottage Garden Threads and Aurifil threads.

Throw in a funky feather, orange peel, swirls, straight lines, curling ribbon and a swagged border and you have a nicely textured quilt.

Part of the fabric bundle was a panel that I thought worked well as part of the backing.

A photograph in front of my Wisteria bush on a warm fine spring day was pleasing.
I have had a florist friend staying for a couple of days and I thought it would be nice to have a vase of freshly "'picked & plonked in a vase" display in the guest bedroom.

A pretty sad attempt when you see the lovely bunch my friend made me from her garden!

I love the white Protea (which she grows) nestled in some other pretty flowers and wrapped up with some grapevine.

Happy spring days to you!

Custom quilting & this & that.

Happy Sunday to you readers and friends.

Sharing with you a very pretty quilt called 'Love in Paris' designed by The Country Yard exclusively for the Northern Shop Hop. (see here for more details) This will be an exciting time for quilters in the Auckland and Northland area.

Custom quilted with feathers, orange peel, ribbon candy, cross hatching and swirls made for a fun quilt to work on.

Five pretty stitcheries to give you a feel for some of the best things a girl can do in Paris!

Not to forget a show of the pieced backing for you back lovers out there!

Yesterday afternoon rolled out a couple of spare hours for me, so I chose to put four more of my Wendy Briggs Stitcheries together, I guess I could have done some housework or mowed the lawn, but my blocks were calling me, so what was I to do?

I have four more stitcheries to go to complete this quilt,  I am enjoying the process so much. In the evenings I stitch then when I have time once one or two blocks are finished I piece the block together. This block is one of my favourites.

Today I found happiness (it's there so often if one keeps their eyes & heart open!) out tramping. Enjoy the following photo's and know that your comments and visits sure do spread some happiness my way! Take care & continue to find happiness to fill your life.

Avalon

Sharing another quilt that has been in the 'secret squirrel' cupboard! This is a Block of the month quilt available from The Country Yard, called "Avalon".

Designed by Karen Styles. A yummy quilt that many are falling in love with, tempting reproduction fabrics and clever piecing.

I kept the custom quilting simple, but there is lots of ditch stitching! Cross hatching, orange peel and a leaf swirl on the border.

Are you loving these fabrics???

Kerryn made a lovely pieced backing from reproduction fabrics.

I am enjoying picking up my Wendy Briggs angel stitchery quilt and slowly stitching away, there is no rush is there?

The 'Supervisor' was nowhere to been seen when I took those photo's, but he did leave a message.

Red Love

Hello watchers, followers and readers. (and stalkers!) I am sharing some red love with you today.
First is a quilt Meg made using up the leftover  fabric serviettes from her daughters wedding.

Simple straight lines seemed to work well on this quilt. Thanks Meg!

Next is a quilt Kerryn has been stitching away diligently on all year.

Bought as an unwanted kit, Kerryn had a great time stitching these Wendy Briggs stitcheries, she used Cottage Garden Thread.

Kerryn decided on diagonal lines going over her stitcheries, which has often been the traditional design chosen to quilt stitchery and redwork quilts.

I kept the quilting fairly low key around the stitcheries, swirling spirals. The same can't be said for the borders............those feathers are back!

I loved the backing fabric.....................printed log cabins! You can see the curved cross hatching I quilted in the four outer corners. This really shows up the custom quilting.

Isn't that backing amazing!!

One day you will see my finished version, here is my progress so far.

Next up is a lovely quilt Norma made to give as a gift.

I was asked to quilt an all over design in the middle, then something separate for the border.
I quilted meandering leaves..........................................

........................and some twirly feathers for the border.
The back......................................

Over on my Facebook page I often share sneak peeks of what I am quilting, I will leave you with the quilt I was working on today.
