secrets reveiled..........some :-/

With The Country Yard's new years launch over I can share all the goodies I haven't been able to share with you up until now. Yesterday The Country Yard team set to work to make over the shop with new goodies we had stashed away for this special occasion.

I will have a couple of posts to show the quilts I quilted.....................lets start.
This is called 'Janet's Quilt' ( or if you have been following the shop's facebook page, it's Brian's quilt!! ) This is a Buggy Barn design, we used mainly Buggy Barn fabrics too. Large at 87" square, machine applique, black batting & backing. This quilt is running as a BOM.
I kept the quilting simple, although I did have fun playing with feathers on those nice big borders!

The original sample that Buggy Barn did, the applique is needle turned, but I went with raw edge/ blanket stitched. I am making a cushion to go with the quilt, that is needle turned.

Next is a quilt designed by Terri Degenkolb from Whimsicals. This quilt is available as a kit.
Once again I quilted this simply, to show off the lovely pieced flowers & pinwheels.
 I love this saying!!!!!

"Simply imagine your life as a journey, an adventure to live, to create & be inspired...... seek wisdom, daydream, live in peace & without fear."

sewing, customer quilts & someone's birthday

Friday was my birthday, to celebrate my quilting friends organised a sewing night. Three of us were making the same quilt. This one is from the Primitive magazine. It is handy having your sewing night in your favourite quilt shop   , because when you run out of the brown fabric for your spool ends, you can just go purchase more!
In the left hand bottom corner are 4 plain squares, these have a appliquéd house scene with wool felt.
This quilt is only 36" square.
We had a lovely shared meal, which I was told not to contribute as it was my birthday, lots of laughs & I got some nice presents, here are some of them.
Don't they go well on my bed!
Customer quilts......................
Isn't the backing cute!
This quilt is from Whimsical's book "Just Spooling Around".
Kits for this quilt & Paddington's are available from The Country Yard.

This quilt is called "Saltbox Farm'" designed by Natalie Bird of The Birdhouse. The Country Yard had this as a BOM, but quickly sold out, but that is no suprise!

It was a bit chilly here in the north with a lovely frost, but I have a couple of my friends to keep me warm........

reaaranging & a new baby

Bonnie Hunter is having a "What's on Your Bed" linky thing, I saw it & thought why not! So come with me into my bedroom.......................................

This is my husbands favourite quilt called "Breast of Friends". This was designed by several Australian designers to raise money for Breast cancer. The patterns were published in the Australian Homespun Magazine over several months. You can go here to read more about it & an other I quilted for one of my lovely customers.
The Grandmothers Garden quilt is one I bought from an Antique store in the Bay of Islands. You can read more about that one here.
Please check out what others have on their beds over at Bonnie's linky thingie!

I had a change around in the lounge the other day too &  I thought I could share with you too. Buggy Barn "quilters Village" on the quilt rack I made, Lynette Anderson's 2011 Button Mystery BOM "My Garden", Whimsical's quilt over the treadle, Helen Stubbing's "Stitching Round the Block" cushion, my snowman, Whimsical "dream" cushion & a Christmas present cushion from Raewyn.  And needlecase made by Megan on the blue spool draws.

I have a new granddaughter that was born this morning, no name has been chosen yet so I can't send the quilt I have had made for a couple weeks, I need to write her name on the label.
