Sharing a Christmas quilt sent to me by Maree who lives in Christchurch. Last week this was already to send it back to Maree, lucky I didn't, as I got an email to say she was on her way to South Africa! So how sad for me I have to hold onto to it for a couple of months! I will enjoy Christmas early in the 'Quiltme' studio.
This quilt is called 'Scandinavian Christmas' - designed by Lynette Anderson. Maree gave me free range to as I pleased. I felt the quilt had a traditional feel to it, so I wanted my quilting to be in keeping with that, but with a few whimsical touches. (click on the photo's for close ups )
my fav block! |
With the four main applique blocks ( are needle turned) I crossed hatched the middle, ditch stitched then on edge of the cross stitched 'sashing' I did a whimsical feather. Several different linens were used in this quilt.
Cross hatching, echos & pebbles...........................................................
N adorable quilt. You did a fantastic job on the quilting,
ReplyDeleteo, Leeanne, I love this quilt so much, and your quilting is so superb! I have the pattern for some years now, and over the last year I bought the L.A. fabric for it, as far as it's still available. I saw the quilt last year in real at an exhibition and found it such an adorable quilt, so I hoped to make it before Christmas 2013. So I hope to begin soon. But mine will be handquilted, so less beautifully quilted than the one your quilting!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day, Cisca
A lovely quilt Leeanne and the quilting is a perfect 'fit'
ReplyDeleteOh Leeanne - I love it!!! I think the angel block is my favourite tho they are all lovely. I have seen that pattern before but seeing it made up, it looks great. Love what you have done with it too- lucky you getting to keep it for a little longer :-)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite xmas patterns - the gorgeous quilting doesn't hurt one little bit! Question time - when you are doing cross hatching around applique like that, do you travel along the applique to do the next line, or do you do lots of stops/starts?? Also, do you mark all the lines, or just a few??
ReplyDeleteExcellent design choices, Leeanne. You have enhanced the quilt with just the right touch of quilting!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and your quilting looks perfect for it.
ReplyDeletea very quilt Christmas quilt!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is beautifully made and beautifully quilted. What a great job. I am visiting via Lynette Anderson's blog.

Leeane, it's just beautiful. I love the way the feathers nest into the angles of the cross-stitches. :)
